The resource program offers support for reading, writing and math in grades K-8. Teachers with experience and training in teaching children with learning differences provide instruction to students who require support to be successful in the regular classroom. The resource specialist may assist students with weak academic skills, gaps in their skills, learning difficulties and poor organizational and/or study skills.
This support can be provided in various forms. The resource teacher may team teach with the classroom teacher, work with individuals or small groups within the regular classroom or provide instruction in the resource classroom. Resource support also varies by the length of time and number of days instruction is provided. This is based on the individual needs of the students.
Resource teachers work closely with parents, classroom teachers and other personnel from special services (counselors, speech/language therapist, and psychologist) to determine what combination of services is best for each student.
The goal of the resource program is to help each student develop the skills they need to be successful.
