Computer Studies and Technology Education at SAS is designed to help students understand and participate in the technological society of today and tomorrow. At SAS, computer/technology education is approached as a tool for learning and problem solving and also as its own subject area and field of exploration, investigation, and development. Middle School I.T. Elective Course Offerings

Computer Studies:

  • IT Foundations (required for all Gr. 6 students, optional for Gr. 7 & 8)

  • IT Applications (Gr. 7 & 8)

  • IT Media (Gr. 7 & 8)

Digital Video:

  • “Take One” Video Production (Gr. 7 & 8)

Tech Ed:

  • Tech Ed 6: Tools

  • Tech Ed 7: Design & Develop

  • Tech Ed 8: Systems

 

Computer Studies and Technology Education at SAS is designed to help students understand and participate in the technological society of today and tomorrow. At SAS, computer/technology education is approached as a tool for learning and problem solving and also as its own subject area and field of exploration, investigation, and development.

 

In grades Pre-School through 12th grade, the knowledge and use of informational technology are progressively developed through four standards, recognized by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE):

  1. Basic Operations and Concepts

  2. Social, Ethical, Technological, and Human Issues

  3. Technology Productivity and Communication Tools

  4. Technology Research Tools

There is a commitment to effectively and appropriately integrate computers and technology into all areas of learning at all grade levels, so that students are able to broaden their thinking and skills in real life applications.

In grades 6-12, opportunities are made available for students to specialize in areas of applied technology, and the standards for these courses are recognized by the International Technology Education Association (ITEA):

  4. Abilities for a Technological World

  5. The Designed World
